COUNSELORS

To qualify as a counselor for SMMC, please ensure that you:

1. Register for the camp by using our online registration system.- REGISTER BEFORE APPLICATION!

2. Will be at least a sophomore in high school or older during the 2027-2028 school year.

3. Complete the counselor application by MARCH 2027. The application is now on Google Forms; please complete it yourself. This is not a job for your parents. We want YOUR responses. Available starting January 2027

4. The approval of counselors will be based on enrollment numbers, and confirmation of your application and approval will take place by APRIL.

5. REFERENCES ARE REQUIRED. If you do not provide references, we cannot approve your application. Every year we have to turn down counselors. The sooner your information is in, the sooner we can get you approved!

To be eligible for a discount as a counselor, please note the following criteria:

For Counselors:

• You can receive a $100 discount by completing 6 hours of approved SMMC service before May 1, 2027. All events and activities must be pre-approved and fulfilled accordingly. Please refer to the list of possible service hours provided below.

For Third Year or More Counselors:

• To receive a full ride, third-year or more counselors must inform us of their need for a sponsor by January 1, 2027. They should also sign up for a camp activity they will be responsible for during the camp week. These activities may include but are not limited to, assuming the role of Lead Counselor, assisting the nurse, or serving as a lifeguard.

Possible Acts of Service: All acts of service must be approved by Nichole before they can be considered for credit. You can contact Nichole via email at smmcactivities@gmail.com. All services must be completed by May 1, 2027. Here are some examples of approved service ideas, but if you have other suggestions, please reach out to Nichole.

1. Attend 6 hours of musical events that you are not participating in. The credit hours will be based on the event's duration and your availability before and after the event. As a counselor, you must wear your camp t-shirt, distribute brochures, and collect contact information from attendees.

2. Create an approved YouTube commercial, reel, or jingle. Email it to Nichole or the Board for approval, and once approved, you can post it online or on the camp's website. This activity can earn you 1-3 hours of credit.

3. Organize an approved SMMC fundraiser. Ensure it is approved, advertised, and successfully completed. This can earn you 1-6 hours of credit.

Counselors can apply to SMMC without completing any service, but discounts will not be offered in such cases.
